Guy P. Dancosse, K.C., has extensive experience in labour and employment law, as well as in commercial arbitration, where he has acted at the Canadian and international levels. Over the years, he has advised important corporations and has been associated with major law firms in Quebec and Canada. Mr. Dancosse has acquired extensive business knowledge in a wide range of commercial sectors (transport, banking, food processing, pharmaceuticals, maritime, aviation, shipbuilding, pilotage and sports (Montreal Canadiens hockey team and the new Bell Centre in Montreal), as well as the vast majority of manufacturing operations).
He has also developed a deep understanding of the business environment, the pressures that surround it and its competitive nature.
He has appeared before all Canadian courts, including the Supreme Court of Canada. He has acted as counsel for the parties and as an arbitrator in Canadian and international (ICC) commercial arbitrations.
He has led study groups and commissions of inquiry in Canada on issues such as marine pilotage on the St. Lawrence River and Aboriginal land claims.
Mr. Dancosse has also chaired several international missions on behalf of the World Bank, among others Chad and Tanzania, where he conducted a review of the entire legal sector.
He has a broad experience as a Corporate Director. He sits on the Board of Directors of private and public companies (among others, until recently the Royal Canadian Mint, and Canadian Net – Real Estate Reit (active member of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Governance Committee).
