STUDENT RECRUTEMENT 2025

Our summer program is designed to introduce you to the practice of law and our firm’s practice areas.
As a student, you’ll have the opportunity to work in a variety of practice areas, including business law, civil, commercial and corporate litigation, mining law, construction law, constitutional law and fundamental rights, family law and employment law. Working in a medium-sized firm, students are given a wide range of responsibilities, including researching and drafting legal memoranda and decision summaries, drafting procedures and participating in the writing of presentations and texts for conferences.
At GBM, our students are not subject to a formal rotation program, allowing you to discover different areas of law. This will also enable you to gain the full experience of a law firm, while developing your independence and taking initiative.
Students have direct contact with lawyers and partners on all client-related matters. You’ll receive orientation training, professional development and continuing education opportunities, as well as formal and informal feedback to help you develop as a future professional.
Summer positions are available only to students who wish to be admitted to the Quebec Bar. Our articling students generally work with us for one or two summers before articling. Working as a student is also beneficial for your future position as an articling student, as you will already be part of the firm.
Having worked with us prior to articling, the transition to increased responsibility and autonomy will be easy. Our articling program is designed to expose you to different aspects of the practice of law and our firm; however, there is no formal rotation system. On the contrary, during your internship you will be fully exposed to our different practice areas.
Although you will be called upon to work on a variety of local and international matters, GBM is open to the idea of focusing your workload on the particular interests you may develop.
We believe that this exposure will be a unique experience for you, allowing you to discover the areas of law in which you would like to focus in the future. In short, we’ll take your interests into account.
In addition, you will have the opportunity to learn about our practice by attending client meetings, strategy sessions, hearings and trials, and drafting various procedures and memoranda in our files.
You will be encouraged to work independently, but assistance from your mentor and the entire staff will always be available.
At GBM, our interns are valued members of the team, which is why you’ll benefit from in-depth orientation training, professional development and continuing education opportunities, as well as formal and informal feedback.
As a trainee, you will have a mentor who will meet with you regularly and help you integrate into the firm. Your mentor will also help you secure meaningful professional opportunities. Your mentor will be an experienced lawyer with whom we believe you will have common interests.
You’ll also have access to the entire GBM staff, who will be happy to lend a hand whenever you need help or a second opinion on work-related matters.
